Grateful for Growth: Healing, Movement, and a Healthy Thanksgiving

Drs. Jessica and JaGerran Knight-Bryant

Your body responds to what you practice—so we built a month around gratitude, simple resets, and honest expectations for healing. We start by digging into why thankfulness is more than a mood lift. When the brain releases serotonin and dopamine, inflammation eases and the nervous system steadies. That’s the idea behind our gratitude wall: small, daily cues that nudge physiology toward calm and help your body do what it’s designed to do.

We also lay out a clear, doable celery juice routine to help you bounce back from the holiday sugar wave. You’ll hear why we prefer a juicer over a blender, how to batch 35 ounces, when to drink it, and what to pair it with. We talk through real patient outcomes—clearer sinuses, better sleep, and a surprising energy lift—and explain the supportive roles of bioactive sodium, electrolytes, liver and lymph function, and thyroid support. If you’ve been curious about a short cleanse that doesn’t overcomplicate your mornings, this is your blueprint.

Community makes healthy change stick, so we invite you to join our team at the Thanksgiving Day Gobble Jog supporting Must Ministries. Whether you walk, jog, or run, it’s a tradition that links movement, service, and gratitude. From there, we get real about the healing journey. Progress is rarely a straight climb. We break down the three C’s—consistency, commitment, and communication—that carry you from pain to better function, and why waves of good and sore days are part of the process. With holiday traffic on the rise, we also share essential advice on post‑accident care: why early evaluation matters even after a “minor” fender bender, what ER discharge really means, and how specialized chiropractic care fits into a complete recovery plan.

Come for the science-backed gratitude and the celery juice steps; stay for the compassionate roadmap to long-term healing. If this resonates, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a reset, and leave a quick review to help others find the show. Your next healthy habit could start today.

What's up, you guys? Dr. Jagar and A. Bryant here from Mustard Seed Chiropractic, located in beautiful Saranna, Georgia. And this is where Faith, family, and function, they just all come together to create this whole body healing experience here at Mustard Seed. Well, November is one of my favorite months by far. Thanksgiving, my birthday. I love this birthday month. And uh the chance to slow down and reflect on all the blessings around us. And before anything else, I just want to say thank you to every single patient who has voted for us as one of the best chiropractic offices in Georgia. Uh, we really appreciate the kind votes. Uh, we could not do this without your support, your referrals, and your trust. So, again, truly from the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you. Uh now, as we move into this next segment, is gonna be called The Power of Gratitude. And this month, our word as a team, our word as an office is about gratitude. And it's not just about a feeling, it's medicine for the body. Studies show that when you focus on gratitude, your brain releases serotonin and dopamine, the same chemicals that reduce pain, calm, and inflammation, they're gonna help your nervous system regulate. So when you visit our clinic this month, just start by the gratitude wall. Right there on your right, when you walk in, you'll see a whole bunch of leaves kind of falling down the actual wall there. Those are different gratitude leaves that people have written down. And it can be something that's a big thing or a small thing, just something you're thankful for. And every time you do it, you're not only lifting up your spirit, but you're helping your body heal, which is something that people need. All right, now this next piece is about nutrition. I gotta hit this, it's a big one. Celery juice is something I've been recommending to my patients like crazy. Yes, as a chiropractor, we can recommend supplements, but we also can recommend and we should recommend things that are natural ways that people can change their lives with natural things in their lives. So let's talk about it. Specifically, celery juice. Now, after Halloween, right, this past Friday, uh, the sugar wave has hit. Maybe some family, even myself, who grabbed a piece of candy or two from the kids' bag. I know you guys. You might be feeling bloated, tired, and sluggish. But if you're doing celery juice, this can be a powerful reset for you, not only for this moment, but for some many times to come. Now, I got inspired from this uh book written by Anthony Williams from Medical Medium. And here's just some simple science pieces. I want to encourage you to get the audiobook or read the book yourself, but here's some of the highlights I wanted you to have. Celery juice floods your body with bioactive sodium, which helps reduce balance to the adrenals and it flushes out toxins that clog the liver. Now, it's also rich in electrolytes, and it'll help you rehydrate and help the digestive system tract function smoothly. Also, it supports your thyroid, which a lot of people have thyroid issues, and you should be thinking autoimmune stuff, and yes, it reduces the inflammation and neutralizes acids that can irritate these tissues in the body. And it is just a natural cleanse for your lymphatic system. So helping your immune system reset whenever you actually do these um celery juice cleanses. Now, how do you do it? If you're like me, you go to the grocery store about three to four times a week, um, not three to four times a week, sorry, you go to the grocery store about once or twice a week, you grab three or four bundles of organic celery each each um trip. And what you're gonna do is you're going to get your juicer out, not a blender. Notice I said juicer. And you're going to juice the celery. Now you're going to make in, in our case, we make about 35 um ounces of it in like a jug or whatnot, and I break it down and have it for about two or three mornings. But basically, um, if you want to do it every day, you could, but if you don't have that time, it's just better to just make it all at once for about three or four days. And you're going to uh drink this fresh, uh, with no lemon, no ice, no extras, just straight celery juice. And then you're gonna wait 20 minutes before you eat anything else, any breakfast, coffee, uh, anything like that. And you really want to follow it up with water and lemon. Now, I've already had five patients start this cleansing uh here in the clinic, uh, three that have had autoimmune reported issues over the past six plus years. And myself, uh, I started to cleanse this month, and the results have been absolutely amazing. Number one, clear sinuses, better sleep, less pressure in the sinus cavities, and also more importantly, more energy. More energy with a capital E. I cannot thank God enough for how amazing this uh the this celery has really changed my personal life and is starting to do the same thing for my patients. And so I've selling this information for years, and um, I need to make sure patients remember how important it is to knock this stuff out. Also, we are in the month of again that sugar high coming off of the Halloween. We got uh a lot of carbs possibly coming into the diet for the Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas holiday. So it's just great to restart your day by literally starting it with a really nutritious celery juice early in the morning, juicing it. You know it's gonna be fresh and organic from home. And if you don't have a juicer, notice I did not say a blender. Blenders do not work in this case. You have to juice it. Um, you can get a juicer. The one we recommend is Breville or Brevel, however you want to pronounce it. Um juicers, they have two. We have the extra large cold press. Fantastic, fantastic. I'll put that in the show notes for you guys to check out. But uh, you know, give it, give it three days if you're one of those people that are like, ew, hold my nose. I can't handle celery. Um, give it a week if you're one that's like, hey, I can handle some nutritious stuff in my body and see how it responds. My three-day people, you're gonna fall in love. My one-week people, you're gonna drop pounds, you're gonna get energy boosts, you're gonna see that thyroid start to turn around, even week one. And sometimes it's the small habits to make the biggest change in our lives. So wanna encourage that this year. Next thing is this the gobble jog in Must Ministries. Let's talk about something fun and close to our hearts. The gobble jog, it happens on Thanksgiving Day. And every year here at Must Receive, our team joins to support Must Ministries. It's a local organization. They provide food, shelter, and resources for families in the community. The gobble jog is really simple, you guys. It's a 5K. They also have a 10K, and they also have a really cute one for the kids to do like a quick little uh trot, if you will. But you can walk it, you can run it, or you can jog it. There's timed and untimed. So it's really great and it's great energy on those events. And it happens on Thanksgiving morning, so you can burn the calories before the big meal. Big plus right there, you guys. We still have a uh we have a couple open spots here if you want to be on Team Mustard Seed. Um we just meet up a little early, say hello, say uh hello to friends and family that are kind of popping in. Um just it's a great moment for people to meet people within the practice, but also to burn some calories before they enjoy a really good meal with other friends and family. And it's more than just exercise, it really is about setting a rhythm of health and gratitude for your family. We've seen people start with this 5K and then next year go on to complete half marathons and marathons. But it's also a beautiful reminder that one healthy decision can start a lifelong pattern of wellness. So go ahead and sign up through mustministries.org and you'll see Must Receive Practic team. We don't even have a password. You can just join. And we'll make sure we say, hey, you can walk, jog, or run with us. In our case, we'll be walking uh for sure. Now, next part is this big deal. Healing isn't linear. It's about to get real on this health and healing journey. We tell our patients all the time, healing is not linear. When you start chiropractic care, it is not a straight climb up. It's more like a wave of some good days and some sore days, some breakthrough days, and all the adjustments needed, the care plan needed, the care consistency that's needed that will take you deeper for real correction so your body can function the way God designed it to. Now, imagine this: you start at point A, and many times that's the pain that brings you into the chiropractor, and we're well below the health and wellness line at that point. We're trying to get you back to that health and wellness line, physical function at a high, high level, and we'll call that point B. And that is where you're stronger. You are more balanced, you are healthier. But what gets you from point A to point B is the three C's. And that's consistency, showing up for your adjustments, commitment, trusting the process that the doctor, the care plan that they've led before you, and the communication to tell us how you're actually doing so we can continue to move you through the care plan in a functional way that allows you to hit your goals. Now, healing takes time, it's true, but it's worth it. And every single adjustment plants a seed of restoration in the body so you can function exactly the way God designed you to. Last but not least, something that we notice in November, I've been in practice for six years now. And as the holidays approach, traffic increases, people get a little bit more distracted on phones and different details and probably doing things they shouldn't. And now we have uh uh a different type of apparatuses in our cars and different details that has people switching up and changing routes and going here and going there. And unfortunately, it can cause auto accidents. Now, I don't wish that on anybody, but if it happens, I do want you to know you have a trusted home base. And so even a small fender bender can create hidden spinal injuries. And sometimes you don't feel symptoms until weeks later. And then by then, many times the nerve pressure and disc irritation have already set in. If you hadn't seen any type of health provider, you may not even have a case at that point in time, but you may have had one had you come in within 30 days of you actually uh from the accident. And so if you have a friend or family member who has been in a car accident, employ that they get checked by an MD, a chiropractor, a trauma center, a urgent care, something after the car accident, it really is wise to do so. I've been dealing with cases for years now, and it just makes sense that even if you think you've had a small fender bender, uh-uh, it can cause a lot of pressure to your spine and nervous system. Get checked. I've also completed a lot of postdoctoral training in spinal trauma and personal injury triage. And thank goodness we've been in this game long enough now where we actually know some really great attorneys in the area that we can always offer recommendations for you if need be, if you need legal representation. Uh, we're gonna make sure we handle the medical care for you here, uh, chiropractic-wise. But remember, we we just uh it's so important, and this is one key detail I need you to remember as well. Many times when you if you've gone to, let's say, um uh the hospital, you've gotten a CT or something like that after a car accident, and they release you from care, recognize that they're just saying that your injuries aren't traumatic from a standpoint of life-threatening. That doesn't mean that your actual body hadn't incurred pain, dysfunction, uh, and discomfort that can cause issues years later. So it's important to get treated by a chiropractor, somebody who deals with the spine, the nervous system, the joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, they see this stuff all the time. They can read those reports and actually get you the care needed. So important to be checked by a chiropractor in that way because we could actually help. Um they do have to have beds for people if they have some immediate life-threatening injuries, and you just can't take up that bed, and that's okay. But you need to get care with the chiropractor. And so, very important for you to remember that. Um, also, um, I just want to say thank you for those who are referring people in. Referrals aren't just about uh they're not about just growing to practice, they're really about helping people find the healing and the care that they need. And so, everyone who invites someone here to Mustard Seek Chiropractic, we are so grateful, um, especially in this month of gratitude, because we recognize there's so many stories right here within our clinic where someone said, Hey, if if so-and-so didn't refer me in, I would not be getting this health, this healing that I would be getting right now. So I have to say thank you to everyone who continues to refer people into Mustard Seek Chiropractic. Uh, we are so eternally grateful in a big time way. As we wrap up this whole gratitude circle in this season, take a breath. Move your body, be thankful. Make sure if you get a chance to join us in the gobble drive. Try that celery juice challenge, if you will. Stay consistent with the care. Write something that you're grateful for on our wall when you stop in. Or if you don't, stop in this month, write it in your own journal. Because gratitude grows what's good. Focus on that in the season, if nothing else. And from our family here, Mr. C. Calibrated, we're thankful for you, for your trust and for your referrals, and for your commitment to healing from the inside out. Again, Dr. G, Dr. Jess, and the team here on Mustard C Whatsin' out. We'll see you on the next one. Grateful for growth. Let's continue to heal move and be thankful in the season of next year.
