What's up you guys, dr McBride, here from Mustard Seed Chiropractic and we are on the Simply Health and Wellness podcast. Today's topic we are talking about champions are built from the inside out. What a fantastic topic because, yes, we're centering our talk today around athletes, but, as you will soon find out, isn't everyone an athlete? So today we are going to hit on the importance of chiropractic care and how it helps you, me, us operate at the highest level from the inside out. So, whether you're on the field, whether you're on the court, you're on a stage or you're at work, your performance is directly tied to your body's alignment, your nervous systems function and how well you Recover. And you know is true, and that's exactly what chiropractic care can help you with. So let's talk about being an athlete and really developing the age. So when someone says they have an edge, especially to talking about an athletic context, they mean they possess this advantage, something that gives them a competitive boost over others. Right? This edge can come in many different types of forms, though I want you to think of it like this A physical edge means you are maybe more, there's more strength, more speed and flexibility and endurance to your performance. How about having a mental edge right? Having better focus, confidence, mental resilience. How about a strategic edge? Just being smarter with your game plan and your technique? How about a recovery edge? The ability to heal faster and perform more consistently? So when an athlete says chiropractic gives me an edge, they usually mean it helps them feel and function at their best so that they can outperform others, avoid injuries and recover faster. And isn't that just the name of the game? I want you to think of it like this In elite competitions, the difference between winning and losing is often milliseconds or millimeters. That tiny edge in the reaction time, the balance and mental sharpness can be the difference maker.

You see my dad. He was a big time Dallas Cowboys fan and for you Dallas Cowboys fans out there, you guys know coach Bill Parcells. I remember he said this the best ability is availability. It doesn't matter how gifted you are If your body is not able to keep up. That is why chiropractic care matters, because when your spine and your nervous system are functioning so well, your body stays in the game longer, and that makes you an asset to your team. The game longer, and that makes you an asset to your team, to your family and also to your purpose. And, as we all know, the great Michael Jordan. Let me share one of his famous quotes. He said I did not know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor, and since then I've improved by leaps and bounds, both mentally and physically. Just think about that the greatest basketball player ever already elite found another gear after getting adjusted. In fact, jordan said that the turning point in his career where he felt unstoppable was when he made chiropractic a part of his routine. And he was not alone.

It's estimated that 90% of world-class athletes use chiropractic care regularly, not just for treatment, but to boost performance, prevent their injuries and help them recover faster. Here's some of the things that consistent chiropractic care has been shown to improve in your athletes Stronger muscle recruitment and coordination. That means the ability to get all the muscle fibers that are coordinated by your nervous system to contract at one time, producing a stronger response right, or how about this? Faster reaction times. Quicker recovery from your injuries. Improved balance and proprioception. Better focus and performance under pressure. There's research from the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics showing that athletes receiving chiropractic adjustments had significantly faster reaction times compared to those who did not, and trust me, that split second edge could be the difference between the winning and the losing.

So what happens if you are an athlete and you just don't get the care? Well, it's very simple. You're going to have chronic stiffness for sure, increased risk of injury, longer recovery times, muscle imbalance, mental fatigue and slower focus. It's like trying to drive a high-performance sports car with misaligned wheels, a clawed fuel line and on top of that you're riding with the brake on. I mean, it just doesn't make sense. It might be able to run, but it won't be able to run long and fast at its best. And that's how the body works when the spine is misaligned and interfering with your nervous system. So let's pause here and remember something a little bit deeper.

I love reading scripture, and the Bible in first Corinthians nine, 24 through 27, says it like this Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. You see, I strike a blow to my body and I make it my slave, so that after I have preached it to others, I myself will not be disqualified from the prize. You see, this apostle Paul, he understood discipline, he understood training and he really understood taking care of his body. Whether you're an athlete or a teacher, or a parent or a business owner, you have to run a race, all right, and that race starts with you by honoring your body.

Chiropractic care helps you do just that. It's non-invasive, it's drug-free and it allows the nervous system, the command center of your entire body, to function the way God intended. Now let me bring this home for you today. You may not be on a sports team today, but you are on a team at work. You may have a team at home, you have a team at your church, you have a community at large that you are hopefully adding to and not taking away from. And when you take care of your health, you're not just doing it for you, you're doing it for everyone who counts on you.

I know a leader in the environment can only give their best when they're functioning at their best. You just can't pour from an empty cup and you can't give your best to the world if you're constantly in survival mode and we call that mode really fight or flight. We have to get out of that, get our patients into rest and digest so that you can be the best for the people around you.
